| 解説 | 自由奔放な激しい筆触と明るい色彩は、ほぼ独学で油彩を学んだ作者天性のものであり、当時の画壇に大きな影響を与えることになりました。昭和初期、東京が関東大震災から驚くべき早さで復興していく都市のダイナミズムを、汽車や駅、ビルディング、カフェの姿に見出して、キャンバス上に縦横無尽に展開させていきました。本作もその時代の作品の一つであり、生命力溢れる大都市東京の熱気を､すさまじい速筆でほとばしるように描きだしました。しかし、この頃から、酒に溺れ夜ごとに酒場へとくり出す、無頼の生活へと堕していくことになります。 HASEGAWA’s free-spirited, intense brushstrokes and bright coloring were all part of his natural talent, HASEGAWA learned oil painting almost completely by himself and had a great influence on the art world during his lifetime. In the early Showa era, he displayed the dynamism of Tokyo recovering from the Great Kanto Earthquake at an amazing speed, with trains, stations, buildings, and cafes developed across the canvas. This work is from the same period, showing the enthusiasm of Tokyo and its vitality with a terrific, quick brush. Unfortunately, around this period HASEGAWA fell on hard times and became an outlaw, traveling from bar to bar to drown his sorrows in alcohol. |
