| 作品解説 | 大きな尻尾で目を見開き、鈴を首につけたこの猫は、誰かの飼い猫なのでしょうか。作者のボテロは、ふくよかな人物や動物の像を数多く生み出しました。それらは何らかのモデルを基にしているのではなく、豊かなイマジネーションによって創作したものだといいます。 スペインのバルセロナにも、本作よりひとまわり大きなヴァリエーションが設置されています。当館では、来館者の安全に配慮して、髭を外して展示しているため、「ひげのない猫」としても親しまれています。 フェルナンド・ボテロ 1932‐2023 コロンビアのアンティオキア州メデジンに生まれる。叔父の勧めで闘牛士養成学校に通う。1952年にコロンビア・サロンで二等賞を受賞し、スペインやイタリアで古典美術やフレスコ画を学ぶ。1960年までコロンビアの首都ボゴタの国立美術学校で教鞭をとり、1973年頃から本格的に彫刻作品を発表した。 |
| Description | With its large tail, wide-open eyes, and bell around its neck, could this cat perhaps belong to someone? The artist, Botero, created many statues of plump people and animals. These were not based on any particular models, but rather created from his rich imagination. A slightly larger variation of this piece is also on display in Barcelona, Spain. At this museum, the whiskers have been removed for the safety of our guests, for which it is affectionately known as “the whiskerless cat”. |
