| 作品解説 | 満開の桜が描かれた屏風を背に、上畳に座る女性。絞り模様の着物へはらはらと花びらが落ちかかり、どうやら頭上にも、差し掛かる桜の枝があるようです。上方には、赤い紐につるされた鳥よけのための鈴（護花鈴）も見えます。この趣向は『太閤記』に記述があり、この絵が慶長3（1598）年、豊臣秀吉が催した「醍醐の花見」の一角を描いたものであることが示されます。 本作は、安田靫彦の若き日の制作を伝える一点です。20代で奈良留学の機会を得るも、健康を害して思うように制作できなかったこの時期、靫彦は古美術や歴史の教養を深め、表現を簡潔の方向へと変化させて行きました。 安田靫彦 1884‐1987 東京生まれ。小堀鞆音に入門し、紫紅会（のち紅児会）を結成して活動。再興日本美術院には創立から参加し、戦後は理事長に就いた。古美術や歴史の教養を深め、考証の上に創意ある解釈を加えた歴史人物画を追究。鉄線描による簡潔な造形と構成による画は、新古典主義と称された。1944年、東京美術学校教授。1948年、文化勲章受章。 |
| Description | A woman is seated on a tatami mat, a folding screen painted with cherry blossoms in full bloom behind her. Petals flutter gently down onto the shibori-patterned kimono, and a cherry blossom branch appears to extend overhead as well. Above, we can also see a goka-rei (bird repelling bell) hanging from a red string. This design is described in the Taikoki, which indicates that the painting is depicting a corner of the cherry blossom viewing at Daigo, hosted by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1598. This piece conveys what Yasuda Yukihiko’s work was like in his younger days. Although he’d had the opportunity to study in Nara (the capital of Japan in the 8th century) in his twenties, his poor health prevented him from creating as he wished. During this period, he deepened his knowledge of ancient art and history, and his style of expression shifted towards one of simplicity. |
