| 作品解説 | 1910年、20歳になる年のシーレは、知人の産婦人科医の許可を得て、彼の勤める病院にいる妊婦たちをモデルに素描する機会を得ました。病院での観察の結果生まれたこれらの女性像からは、官能性よりも、母性や人体への関心が色濃く感じられます。 正面を向いて座る本作のモデルは、黒の鋭い輪郭線で描かれ、オレンジ、黄、緑といった鮮烈な色で塗られています。上下の髪の先と足先はカットして縦方向を強調した構図や、左側に大きく取った余白に小さく入れた「S」のサインが、シーレの優れた構成力を示しています。 エゴン・シーレ 1890‐1918 ウィーン近郊トゥルン生まれ。ウィーン美術アカデミーに学ぶ。初期にはクリムトに影響を受けたが、1910年頃に独自性を確立。1912年、オーストリア芸術家同盟のメンバーとなった。挑発的ともとれる裸体表現や、強烈な自意識を投影した自画像などを繊細な線によって描いた。1918年第49回ウィーン分離派展で大きな成功を収めるも、同年死去。 |
| Description | In 1910, the year Schiele turned 20, he received permission from an obstetrician he knew to sketch pregnant women at the hospital where he worked. From these female figures emerging from his observations at the hospital, one can sense a strong interest in motherhood and the human body, rather than sensuality. The seated model in this piece, facing forward, has been drawn with sharp black outlines and painted in vivid colors such as orange, yellow, and green. The composition, in which the top of the hair and bottom of the legs are cut to emphasize the vertical direction, as well as the small signature “S” in the large white space on the left, demonstrate Schiele’s excellent compositional skills. |
