| 作品解説 | ブリュッケの画家たちは、夏の時季には慌ただしい都市部を離れ、自然豊かな土地に滞在して制作しました。本作品はバルト海沿岸の漁村ニデン（現・リトアニア領ニダ）で描かれたものです。 ペヒシュタインは漁師小屋に寝泊まりし、時に地元の漁にも参加する生活の中で絵を描きました。老漁師のリラックスした姿勢や人間味ある表情からは、画家が束の間ながら、モデルと心を通わせたことが想像できます。背景とハイライトに黄色を効果的に使用し、短いタッチを繰り返す描法には、初期に大きな刺激を受けたファン・ゴッホの影響が見られます。 ヘルマン・マックス・ペヒシュタイン 1881‐1955 ドイツのザクセン州ツヴィッカウ生まれ。同地で絵を学んだのち、ドレスデンの工芸美術アカデミーに通った。1906年に「ブリュッケ」に参加。1908年にベルリンに移住し、翌年にベルリン分離派に参加。1910年にベルリン新分離派に参加。1913年にドイツ領であったパラオを旅行した。1922年から1933年までプロイセン美術アカデミー教授、1945年から1955年までベルリン造形美術大学教授を務めた。 |
| Description | The Brücke painters left the hustle and bustle of cities during the summer months, staying in regions rich in nature as they created their works. This piece was painted in the fishing village of Nidden (now Nida, Lithuania) on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Pechstein painted his paintings while sleeping in a fisherman’s hut and participating in local fishing activities on occasion. The old fisherman’s relaxed posture and humane expression suggest a momentary connection between the artist and his model. The effective use of yellow in the background and highlights as well as repeated short strokes reveal the influence of Van Gogh, who greatly inspired Pechstein in his early years. |
