| 作品解説 | 川沿いの小道を一人の女性が歩く静かな光景。高い木々や、それらが映る水面などの深い色調が広がる中に、ただ一つの人工物である白い水門が映えています。 初期のカンディンスキーは、ミュンヘンの郊外や旅行先にいつもカンヴァスボードを携えて、大胆なタッチで風景を写生しました。時にはそれらを下絵に、アトリエで大きなサイズの絵を制作することもありました。《水門》はその1点で、資料からロシアの風景だと推測されています。画家自身にとって手応えのある作品だったようで、1913年に刊行された自選作品集に、風景画の中では唯一掲載されました。 |
| Description | A tranquil scene of a woman walking along a path beside a river. Amid the deep hues of the tall trees and their reflections in the water, a sole man-made object, a white water gate, or sluice, stands out. In his early years, Kandinsky always had a canvas board with him when he was in the suburbs of Munich or while traveling, and sketched landscapes using bold strokes. At times, he would use these as preparatory sketches to create paintings of larger scale in his studio. The Sluice is one such piece, and based on historical documents, it is believed to be based on a Russian landscape. The artist himself seems to have found this work to be particularly satisfying, as it was the only landscape painting to be included in his collection of selected works, published in 1913. |
