| 作品解説 | 大筆のたっぷりとした運筆が、はらいへ向け細く流れるように窄んでいく。「風」の字形と流動する空気のイメージがよく一体化し、意匠化されています。文字紋様は、型絵染作家・芹沢銈介のデザインを特徴づけるものの一つです。芹沢は民芸収集家でもあり、本作の着想源として、朝鮮民画の文字絵や、白地の円に一文字を置く密教の「阿字観」が指摘されています。「風」の字を染めているのが、風に揺らめく「のれん」であることも、機知に富んでいます。この作品は、パリ開催の個展ポスターにも採用されました。 芹沢銈介 1895‐1983 静岡市生まれ。東京高等工業学校（現・東京工業大学）で図案を学ぶ。柳宗悦の民藝運動に共鳴して染色、沖縄の紅型技法を取り入れ、雑誌『工藝』をはじめとする装幀のほか、紙染、絵本制作など型染の表現域を開拓した。1956年、重要無形文化財保持者に認定され、染織技術と清新なデザイン性を併せ持った芹沢の創作は「型絵染(かたえぞめ)」と命名された。 |
| Description | Generous brushstrokes made by a large brush narrow into flowing thin lines as they flow. The form of the kanji character for “wind” and the imagery of flowing air have been beautifully incorporated into the design. Character patterns were one of the distinctive features of the designs of Serizawa Keisuke, who was a katae-zome (painterly stencil-dyeing) artist. Serizawa was also a collector of folk art, and the inspiration for this piece is said to have come from the character paintings of Korean folk art, as well as the esoteric Buddhist ajikan (a form of meditation), which places a single character within a white circle. In addition, dyeing the character for “wind” on a noren curtain, which sways in the breeze, brims with wittiness. This piece was also used for the poster advertising the artist’s solo exhibition in Paris. |
