DescriptionFor Yoshino, the imagery of dogs dates back to wartime. Due to food shortages, dogs began to be supplied for consumption, and Yoshino’s beloved pet dog Pesu went missing.
Slender arms extend as if flowing down from the slim torso. The head, with its tongue out, twists and reaches toward the sky, as if to escape from the body. For Yoshino, spirals, torsion, and water were symbols of vitality. He also said that the masculine form of a dog also embodied the feminine quality of giving birth to life. The dog’s form also represented the perpetual and recurring movements of life and society.
