| 作品解説 | 本作は、娘であり俳優の佐藤オリエをモデルにしています。マントを着用したオリエの姿をみて、北海道で幼少期にマントで冬を過ごした懐かしい記憶を思い出したこと、また、そのフォルムに魅かれたことが制作のきっかけであったと語っています。また、同時代のイタリアの彫刻家ジャコモ・マンズーによる、枢機卿をモチーフにしたブロンズ作品からも着想を得ていると語っています。左右対称に広がったマントのシルエットと手の位置などに配慮が必要だったため、時間をかけて制作されました。 |
| Description | This piece was modeled after the artist’s daughter, actress Sato Orie. Sato has said that seeing Orie wearing the cloak brought back fond memories of spending winters wearing one as a child in Hokkaido, and that he was fascinated by its shape, inspiring him to create the piece. He also said that he was inspired by a bronze sculpture of a cardinal made by contemporary Italian sculptor Giacomo Manzù. The piece took a long time to create, as it required careful consideration of the cloak’s silhouette, which spreads out symmetrically, as well as the position of the hands. |
