| 作品解説 | 本作品はエノケンこと榎本健一が率いた浅草の劇団「カジノ・フォーリー」の花形女優、花島喜世子を描いたもの。奔放な筆遣いと強烈な色彩によって、舞台の活気と熱気を伝えてきます。 長谷川利行は短歌や小説を発表するかたわら絵の制作に没頭し、新宿、浅草などを放浪しながら、街の風景や人々の姿を描きました。その無頼的な生き方も奔放な作風も、画壇には馴染みませんでしたが、一部の若い画家たちを強烈に惹き付けました。洲之内徹もまた、その生きざまと、長谷川が猥雑な現実から出現させた「きらきらするような美の世界」に惹かれた一人です。 長谷川利行 1891‐1940 京都市生まれ。中学時代は文学に傾倒。1921年頃上京し、短歌や小説を発表しつつ絵画を制作。1927年、第14回二科展で樗牛賞、翌年一九三〇年協会展で協会奨励賞受賞。新宿、浅草などを放浪しながら、目にした風景や人々を素早い筆致で描いた。1936年頃から個展を多数開催した。1940年に荒川区三河島で倒れ、東京市養育院で死去。 |
| Description | This piece depicts Hanashima Kiyoko, star actress from the Asakusa theater troupe Casino Folies, which was led by Enomoto Kenichi, also known as Enoken. It conveys the stage's vitality and fervor through its free brushwork and intense colors. In addition to publishing tanka poetry and novels, Hasekawa Toshiyuki devoted himself to painting, and would wander around Shinjuku, Asakusa, and other areas, painting cityscapes and people. His self-reliant way of living and unrestrained style were unfamiliar to the art world, but a certain group of young artists were strongly attracted to them. Sunouchi Toru was also drawn to Hasekawa’s lifestyle, as well as the “sparkling world of beauty” that Hasekawa managed to draw from the gritty, bustling, and decadent reality. |
