| 作品解説 | ほの暗い空間に仰向けに横たわる鳥の死骸。のど元や足先の微妙なしなりは、死と重力に屈した生命の説得力ある表現です。構図のやや右寄りに描くことで、鳥の重心が画面の中心に重ねられています。うずら一羽分の重さが、目を通じて掌に伝わってくるようです。 無常観や死の厳格さが、もちろん主題の一部でしょう。さらにまた、一個の静物となった鳥は、生や死を超えて、ひとつの存在がそこにあることについての深い思索に誘うような、忘れがたい存在感をもっています。洲之内徹は、「盗んでも自分のものにしたい」と感じた絵の一つに、本作品を挙げています。 鳥海青児 1902‐1972 神奈川県中郡須馬村（現・平塚市）生まれ。本名、正夫。1924年、関西大学在学中に春陽会に入選。同年に三岸好太郎らと麓人社を結成した。1928年と翌年に春陽会賞を受賞。1930年から1933年まで滞欧。1943年に春陽会を辞し、独立美術協会会員となった。抑えた色調と量感ある筆触で風景や静物、人物などを描いた。1956年に芸術選奨文部大臣賞受賞。1966年に神奈川県立近代美術館で回顧展が開催された。 |
| Description | In a dimly lit space, a dead bird lies facing upward. The subtle bending in the bird’s throat and toes is a compelling expression of life succumbing to death and gravity. By painting the bird slightly to the right of the composition, its center of gravity has been placed at the center of the painting. You can almost feel the weight of this single quail in the palm of your hand by merely seeing it. The sense of impermanence and the severity of death are undoubtedly part of the painting’s themes. Furthermore, the bird, rendered as a still life, possesses an unforgettable sense of presence which invites deep contemplation on the existence of a single being, transcending life and death. Sunouchi Toru cites this piece as one of the paintings he felt he would want to make his own, even if it meant stealing it. |
