| 作品解説 | 黄と緑、それらの中間色を基調に、青と茶系統の色も含んだ、無数の点が画面を覆っています。瑛九は晩年に、碁石のような丸や色斑をモチーフとする抽象画を描き始め、それらは次第に細かい点に解消されていき、亡くなる年にはほぼ点のみで描く絵画に到達しました。その前年に描かれた本作品は、点よりは少し大きな、ある方向性をもったタッチを主体に描かれています。その大きさや密度は一定ではなく、画面に動きをもたらしています。特に大きなタッチの集まる箇所は、空間の向こう側でうごめく、生きたエネルギーの存在を感じさせます。 瑛九 1911‐1960 宮崎県宮崎郡宮崎町（現・宮崎市）生まれ。本名、杉田秀夫。日本美術学校を中退後、美術評論を執筆しつつ、1930年にオリエンタル写真学校に入学。1936年に瑛九の名で、フォトグラム作品を「フォト・デッサン」として発表。以後、油彩、水彩、コラージュ、版画など多様な技法で制作した。1937年、自由美術家協会創立に参加し、翌年退会。1951年にデモクラート美術協会結成に参加。 |
| Description | With basic tones of yellow, green, and intermediate colors, the canvas is covered with countless spots consisting of blue and brown shades. In his later years, Ei Q began to create abstract paintings using stone-like circles and colored spots as motifs. These spots gradually dissolved into finer dots, and by the time of his passing, he had come to create paintings composed almost entirely of dots. This piece was painted the year prior and is primarily made up of directional touches that are slightly larger than dots. The size and density of each stroke is varied, bringing movement to the canvas. Areas in which large brushstrokes come together particularly evoke the presence of a live energy squirming on the other side of the space. |
