| 作品解説 | 本作品は身近な風景にヒントを得て描かれたのでしょう。松本竣介が住んだ下落合（現・新宿区中井）周辺の高台には文化人が多く居住しており、目白寄りの一帯には、文化村と呼ばれた洋風の文化住宅が並ぶモダンな住宅地もありました。 しかしその背景には、亡くしたばかりの長男への思いもあるのでしょうか。緑に囲まれた洋風の白い建物の前で、犬と子どもが遊ぶ光景は、夢の一場面のようにも見えます。 この後松本は、繊細な線を駆使した幻想的な都会風景と、対象をかたまりで捉えた半抽象的な郊外風景の、テーマも作風も対照的な風景画のシリーズを二科展に発表していくこととなります。 松本竣介 1912‐1948 東京府豊多摩郡渋谷町（現・東京都渋谷区）生まれ。本名、俊介。幼少期を岩手で過ごした。13歳のときに病気のため失聴。1929年に上京。太平洋画会研究所に学び、1935年にNOVA美術協会に参加。同年第22回二科展に初出品。1936年に妻と雑誌『雑記帳』を刊行した。1941年、『みづゑ』に「生きている画家」を寄稿。1943年に新人画会の結成に参加。1947年に自由美術家協会に参加。伸びやかな線描と堅牢な絵肌で街の風景や人物などを描いた。 |
| Description | This piece was likely inspired by a familiar landscape. The hills around Shimo-Ochiai (now Nakai, Shinjuku Ward) where Matsumoto Shunsuke lived were home to many intellectuals, and the area near Mejiro was home to a modern residential area known as Bunkamura, lined with Western-style housing. However, what may also lie behind this are thoughts of his recently-lost eldest son. The scene of a dog and a child playing in front of a white Western-style building surrounded by greenery looks like a scene from a dream. Following this, Matsumoto presented a series of landscape paintings at the Nika Exhibition which contrasted in both theme and style, including fantastical urban scenes crafted with delicate lines, and semi-abstract suburban scenes that captured subjects as masses. |
