| 作品解説 | 本作の前に立つと、群青色の絵具がついた筆を同じ方向に動かして線を引く画家の動きが目に浮かびます。画面の最上部ではほぼ横一列の起点から引かれた線は、下部に向かうに従って大きくずれていき、リズミカルな印象へと変化します。李は、1950年代末から1960年代初頭に、石、ガラスなどの物質を配置し、その関係性から思考を引き出そうとする「もの派」と呼ばれる芸術運動を理論と実践で牽引しました。絵画では、「線より」「点より」などのシリーズにおいて、画家の身体の痕跡を残しつつ、鑑賞者を内省へと誘う作品を制作しました。 李 禹煥 1936- 韓国慶尚南道生まれ。1956年、来日。1961年、日本大学文学部哲学科卒業。1970年美術出版社芸術評論募集で「事物から存在へ」が佳作賞入選。国内外で個展を多数開催し、「もの派」を代表する作家の一人として国際的に評価されている。1973年から2007年まで多摩美術大学で教鞭を執った。2010年、香川県直島に李禹煥美術館開館。2022年、国立新美術館（東京）にて「李禹煥」展開催。 |
| Description | Standing before this piece, one can imagine the artist’s movements, painting lines by moving the brush coated in ultramarine paint in the same direction. The lines, painted from a nearly horizontal starting point at the top of the canvas, gradually deviate as they move downwards, creating a rhythmic impression. From the late 1950s to the early 1960s, Lee was a leading figure in the theory and practice of the Mono-Ha art movement, which attempted to provoke thought via the relationships of arranged materials such as stone and glass. Among his paintings, including series such as From Line and From Point, he has created pieces that leave traces of the artist’s body, inviting the viewer into introspection. |
