| 作品解説 | 画面を覆うのは、波状の縞模様をもつモールガラス。厚みの違いがレンズのように作用し、部位ごとに異なる拡大・縮小・屈折の効果をもたらすために、奥にある二枚のガラス板の各層に描かれた幾何学的なイメージの見え方は、観る角度によって変化します。 鑑賞者が動くことで姿を変えるこの形式の作品に、ショーウインドウを意味する「ヴィトリーヌ」の名を与えたのは、グループ「実験工房」を批評を通じて支援した瀧口修造でした。古代メソポタミアの王の名を冠するタイトルは、前年に制作した《ヴィトリーヌ 古代》と共通する着想源を想像させます。 山口勝弘 1928‐2018 東京府荏原郡大井町（現・東京都品川区）生まれ。1948年に「トリダン（七耀会）」の結成に参加。1951年に日本大学法学部を卒業、「実験工房」の結成に参加。1949年に第1回読売アンデパンダン展出品、以降継続。1968年にヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレ日本代表。1970年に日本万国博覧会の三井グループ館チーフ・プロデューサー。日本のメディア・アートの先駆者として知られ、数多くの国際展に出品。筑波大学などで教鞭も執った。 |
| Description | Covering the painting is a pane of molded glass with a wavy, striped pattern. The differences in its thickness act as lenses, producing different effects of magnification, contraction, and refraction in each section. This causes the appearance of geometric images painted on each layer of the two rear glass panels to change depending on the angle at which it is viewed. To this type of piece, which changes appearance as the viewer moves, the name “Vitrine”, meaning “display window”, was given by Takiguchi Shuzo, who through his critiques gave support to the group “Jikken Kobo (Experimental Workshop)”. The title, named for an ancient Mesopotamian king, suggests a shared inspiration with Vitrine “Antiquity”, created the previous year. |
