DescriptionThis piece is extremely similar to the Water Dropper in the Shape of a Girl (Acc. No. 00130) in terms of style, size and expression of the motifs, suggesting that the two have probably been made by the same potter. Water would be filled from the base and poured out from the mouth of the bird which the boy is holding. The iron brown paint on the eyes and topknot, and the finely incised decoration on the details were applied with care. Although small in size, the color of the glaze is beautiful, filled with tranquil grace.
