TitleAmenokagami
テキスト内容A kami found only in an "alternate writing" related by Nihongi. No details are provided regarding the kami other than the fact that it is described as the child of Kunitokotachi no mikoto. Whether the kamis name alluded to a relationship to mirrors (kagami) is unknown, but the medieval Gochinza denki states that this kami was responsible for forging the mirror known as mafutsu no kagami at the Grand Shrines of Ise (Ise Jingū). This interpretation was used to link Ise with the mythical accounts of the creation of heaven and earth. Further, Sōshi Nihonden [Japanese records of Sung history] relates a divine genealogy including this name, and attributes it to a quotation from a historical work brought by the Buddhist priest Chōnen.
