| テキスト内容 | The second of five male children produced as the result of the trial by pledge (ukei) undertaken by Amaterasu and Susanoo, and known as ancestral kami (sojin) of the clans of Izumo. According to Kojiki, this kami was produced from the monozane ("seed") represented by the jewel-beads decorating the right coil of hair on Amaterasus head. The various versions of this story quoted as "alternate writings" in Nihongi, however, record the various kami as being produced in different orders and from different monozane. Kojiki states that Amenohohi was the first envoy sent at the suggestion of Omoikane to pacify the Central Land of Reed Plains. Amenohohi, however, curried favor with the kami Ōkuninushi, and sent back no report for three years, with the result that Amewakahiko was sent as a second envoy. Nihongi records the same incident, and states that Amenohohis child Mikumanoushi was sent to inquire of his father, but he likewise sent back no reply. In contrast, Izumo no kuni no miyatsuko kanyogoto states that Amenohohi did return a report of his observations, and his son Takehiratori was sent together with Futsunushi in order to quell the local "rough kami" and kunitsukami ("earthly kami").
