Biography

Painter. Born in Oita City. Later moved to Kitakyushu City. Taught himself painting. In 1945, after being discharged from the military, he earned his living painting portraits and posters for the US military. In 1957, he held his first solo exhibition at Café Degas in Kitakyushu. In 1964, he withdrew from the association Jiyu Bijutsuka Kyokai, and became a founding member of the association Shutai Bijutsu Kyokai. He withdrew from the association in 1975, and removed himself from the painting world. In 1987, his solo exhibition was held at our museum. He depicted unique imagined scenery, based on his gaze on humanity and society. In addition, he published books and was also known for his writing.
