Biography
Sculptor. Born in Hiroshima City. In 1976, graduated from Musashino Art University. Created works based on the theme of the relationship between humans, physical materials, and the natural environment, using metal materials such as iron and bronze. Was awarded the Grand Prize in the UBE Biennale in 1993, among many other awards. His solo exhibitions have been held in art museums and galleries throughout Japan. In addition, he has shown his works many times in Kitakyushu City, including: the International Iron Sculpture Symposium Yahata ’87; a solo exhibition held at our museum in 1989; and the 2nd Kitakyushu Biennale in 1993. His largest-scale exhibition was held at the Museum of Modern Art, Hayama in 2005. Aside from his activities in Japan, he is also active internationally, including on-site creations in the US, Paris and Demark.
