Biography
Painter. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture. In 1945, moved to Tokyo and studied under painter Sanzo Wada. Moved back to Fukuoka the following year. From 1947, lived in Ashiya, Onga-gun, Fukuoka. In 1949, participated in the 3rd Shin-Kyushu Art Exhibition, and was awarded the Kokura City Mayor Prize. In 1958, founded the Shinsho Artist Association, and was actively involved as the founding member well into his later years. His works are characterized by the theme of “a caricature of reality,” and the surface texture that he created using a variety of materials.
