Search Top Search by Artist's nameResults UTAGAWA, Kunisada Ⅲ 1848-1920 Biography Ukiyo-e artist. Disciple of Toyokuni Utagawa III (Kunisada Utagawa). After Toyokuni’s death, he became a disciple of Toyokuni IV. Around 1865, he created hand-fan prints and Yokohama prints. In 1889, he succeeded the name Kunisada Utagawa III. He created many fuzoku-ga (prints of manners and customs) such as kaika-e (prints on Japan’s Westernization). In his actor prints, he particularly excelled in capturing the likeness of kabuki actor Sadanji Ichikawa.
