Biography
Painter/print artist. Born in Kagoshima City. In 1969, withdrew from University of Tokyo, Faculty of Letters. Moved to Kitakyushu City, and began to create self-taught pen-and-ink drawings and oil paintings. In 1976, began to produce copperplate prints. Received many awards starting in 1979. In 1990, published the picture book “Kabocha Goyomi” (poems by Shuntaro Tanikawa). In 1994, completed the “Pumpkin House” in Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City. Around that time, changed his name to “Thonas Kabocharadamus.” Underlying the fantasy, fairy-tale world he depicts are his personal views toward people and society, and his perspective on the world.
