Biography
Painter. Born in Tokyo. Began her artistic career by studying Japanese-style painting. But in 1931, studied under Western-style painters Kenichi Nakamura and Saburosuke Okada. In 1933, studied under painters Seiji Togo and Tsuguharu Foujita at the Avant-Garde Western Art Institute, led by the artists of the Nika Association. Being a hoarder by nature, she created works using unique collage techniques. In 1933, she exhibited collages for her first solo exhibition. In 1947, she joined the Avant-Garde Western Art Institute. She went to France in 1956, and lived in Europe and the US until 1961. She received many awards for her publications and in art exhibitions.
