Biography
Contemporary artist. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture. In 1977, graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, and returned to Fukuoka. Exhibited formative works in many exhibitions, while also producing video works. In 1991, received the Grand Prize in the 5th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh. In 1995, stayed in France via the Gascogne Japanese Art Scholarship. In 1999, he participated in the 5th Kitakyushu Biennale. In that same year, he received the Fukuoka Prefecture Culture Award. Not only does he base his works on the formative theory of Modernism, he is also well-versed in the fields of semiotics and music. He traverses multiple neighboring fields while also creating abstract forms through combining geometrical forms with a sense of lightness.
