Biography

American painter. Born in NYC. Studied at Yale University and University of New Orleans. In 1978, held his first solo exhibition in New Orleans. In 1980, returned to NYC and began showing works composed of squares and straight lines, utilizing materials such as fluorescent acrylic and Roll-a-Tex texture additive. Along with such artists as Jeff Koons, he is known as an artist of the art movement “Neo-Geometric Conceptualism,” which occurred in the latter half of the 1980s. Aside from his creative production, he has gained high reputation as a critic.
