Biography

The artist collective “plaplax” is comprised of Motoshi Chikamori, Kyoko Kunoh, Yasuaki Kakehi and Ai Ohara. Around 1996, Chikamori and Kunoh began to work collaboratively. In 2004, it began its activity as plaplax. It predominantly produces interactive works that respond to the viewer’s movements, using motifs of children’s plays and toys, such as shadow plays, building blocks, and picture books. In addition, it has developed a wide range of activities not limited to the creation of artworks. Namely, it has worked on spatial design for public spaces and commercial facilities, as well as on joint technology development with corporations and universities. From 2010, it has focused on the “Imaginature” series, based on the theme of mental images connected with nature.
