Biography
Painter/print artist. Born in Nagano Prefecture. Began participating in group exhibitions while still an undergraduate at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1973, held her first solo exhibition at Muramatsu Gallery (Tokyo). The following year, completed the Graduate Program (MFA) at the Tokyo University of the Arts. At a time when Conceptual Art was flourishing, she created silkscreens based on repetitious forms such as grids and horizontal lines. From 1978, she once again began to paint in oil and acrylic, which manifested forms such as a floral pattern, a corrugated shape, and small rectangles made into a diamond shape. Then from the mid-1980s, she began to use vibrant colors and boldly depicted elementary forms, such as spheres and squares. In fiscal year 2018, large-scale solo exhibitions that focused on her printworks and drawings were held at museums in Saitama and Aichi.
