Biography
Painter. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture. In 1916, after graduating from the University of Tokyo, took the course to become a painter. In 1930, moved to Europe via the US, with the purpose of studying art. After he returned to Japan in 1933, he began to create his works in the studio “Chinkanchiku Studio” that he built in his late parents’ garden. In 1936, he moved to Tokyo and continued to actively exhibit works in such formats as solo exhibitions. In later years, he moved his studio to Chiba Prefecture, while also continuing to travel to many places and painting landscapes. He consistently pursued his own style of detailed, Realist painting, removed from any painting groups.
