Biography

Contemporary artist. Born in Tokyo. His father was Shogo Enokura, who founded the association Kohdo Bijutsu, along with other artists such as Junkichi Mukai. In 1968, he completed his degree from graduate school at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Upon holding an exhibition in 1970, he began to produce site-specific 3D works. In 1971, he was awarded in the 7th Biennale de Paris. He lived in France for a year from 1973, during which time he produced photographic works and held events in his studio. In 1978 and 1980, he participated in the Venice Biennale. He established a unique style through creating “stains” and “blurs,” using materials such as oil, warabanshi (straw paper), soil, mortar and concrete. He passed away in 1995, while serving as a professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts.
