Biography | Sculptor. Born in Kyoto Prefecture. Studied sculpture both as an undergraduate and a graduate at Tokyo University of the Arts. Early in his career, produced works that adopted the assemblage approach, in which he experimented with every possible material. From 2000, he began to create a series of wooden sculptures, “ANIMALS,” with a variety of animal motifs. He is widely recognized as one of the leading sculptors of today, for his outstanding techniques and ingenious works. He has continued to exhibit new works in the same series while at the same time developing his exhibitions at various venues. His exhibition spaces and impressive sculptures that are respectively presented for each specific site never cease to amaze and inspire viewers. |
