| Explanation | The artist creates series of still photographs focusing on "internal fascism," the violence hidden in daily life. "Tragic Love-No Title 5" is based on films from 1980s which had then popular actor Lee Daegeun. The story is a love affair of a high school boy who fell in love with a delinquent high school girl, followed by a conflict with another boy. As seen in other works by the artist, the victims of violence are always played by the artist himself. That is his physical effort to understand the problems which resulted from contemporary history, while making fun of the admiration of masculine values and violence prevalent in Korean society. |
