| Explanation | The artist graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (Digital Media). A stark-naked youth sprints from West to East in front of the red wall of Tiananmen Square. Running parallel or sometimes criss-crossing with that scene, various stories of people who are on the "periphery" of society (homosexuals and transvestites) unfold. In stark contrast to the warm sunlight that embraces these protagonists, raindrops carrying a folded body of the young man fall from the sky. By presenting various contrasts of East/West, sun/rain, ordinary/extraordinary, the artist questions the bilateral facets of being in the world, thereby insinuating criticism of contemporary society. |
