| Explanation | Cao Fei was born in Guangzhou, China and one of the new generation aritsts emerged during the 2000s. A middle-age man who stands on a street at night showers his love upon the passers-by. Described by the artist as "document of the everyday," the video shows an actual scene she found in Guangzhou. The image processed in black and white is combined with the staging effect of playing "Give Me a Kiss," a popular tune in Hong Kong from the 1960s (a remake of an American country song, "Seven Lonely Days") in the background. The work comically and symbolically presents the man who nonchalantly dances amidst the fast changing city. |
