| Explanation | Cao Fei was born in Guangzhou, China and one of the new generation aritsts emerged during the 2000s. In this work, boys and girls engaging in "cosplay (costume playing)" wander about the megalopolis of Guangzhou. They immerse themselves in creating and living within their own world by performing the role of heroes and heroines of manga, animation and game, while another reality exists only a shoulder away in their family living room. The stark contrast of the double realities illuminates the gap between fantasy and reality. |
