| Explanation | Having lived in both Vietnamese and American societies, the artist belongs to the new generation of artists who easily jumps over the war-ridden image of "Vietnam" and "America" known for its pop culture. She herself appears in these fashionable photographs, surrounded by her favorite things -- pop and colorful flower stands, cushions, vending cart, and sweets. She finds her inspiration in popular mass culture found trans-locally in both Ho Chi Minh and America. It is a world comprised of industrial products. The work embodies her interpretation of the contemporary state of the two societies. |
