ExplanationAmanda Heng was born into a large Chinese Singaporean family. She was neither the son or the eldest daughter of the family. Because of this she had grown up without having a close relationship with her mother. After reaching her middle age, the artist wished to understand the mother as an individual woman and wanted the mother to understand her as well. This is a series of work produced with her mother in an attempt to re-establish the estranged relationship between them.
