| Explanation | Rikrit Tiravanija is a pioneering and influential Thai artist who has inspired many artists through his installation works, where he made and served Thai food in the gallery space, creating the opportunity for communication with the audience through the enjoyment of food and drink. This piece involves showing 8mm films in a tent and serving tea to the audience. The tent, as a temporary structure, is symbolic of the artist’s unstable identity, which is a result of moving to many countries throughout his life. One of the 8mm films that is shown is a video of the journey from Bangkok airport to the city, showing passing cars, people living temporarily at construction sites under the overpass and seasonal workers. The other film shows people walking around Berlin. |
