| Explanation | Svay Ken was born in Takeo province, Cambodia, in 1993 into a family of temple painters. He never studied painting and worked as a hotel employee for a long time. In his later years, he started painting as a hobby, then launched his career as an artist, starting around 1993. Unlike traditional Cambodian painting, his work depicts scenes of daily life with a friendly eye and naïve strokes, like that of a daily journal. As a pious Buddhist who lived a life surrounded by many children and grandchildren, his paintings embody insightful messages for younger generations that he learned from his experiences and daily life. |
