Explanation | The artist received his first art education at the Bandung branch of Keimin Bunka Shidosho (Cultural Center) during the Japanese occupation. He is also one of the representative artists of the Bandung School which pursued abstract expression. The artist has selected subject matters with distinct geometric forms in this work, such as studio space, canvases and easels placed inside the studio. While the studio space is expressed as two-dimensional planes using lines and colors, it is interesting to note that the work also delivers a sense of three-dimensional space with depth. |
