Explanation | The penis is enlarged to occupy almost half of the picture. This is one of the surprising works among the artist's paintings of life of Balinese people. He says, "the penis is a symbol of desire. The man exercising Yoga is trying to reach nirvana and be free from desire. Since nirvana requires courage, I gave him the red flower, the color of courage." However, the penis is showing cheeky face in spite of the man's effort. Could he ever reach nirvana after all? |
