| Explanation | Choi Jeonghwa references popular culture in his work. In this piece, he uses photographs that look like advertising and thin, cheap silver frames are used to display them. He makes his works out of things that can be seen around the town or on TV, for example, cheap chairs that are used in the sauna. In this photograph a man dressed as a woman is holding a doll and is seemingly pressurizing the men in traditional Korean costume to dance and a comedy featuring the men is unfolding. As such scene is happening in the sauna, a public place for enjoyment, that setting further increases the level of ridiculous humor in this piece. |
