ExplanationTang Da Wu is an artist who has been leading Singapore’s contemporary art scene since the late 1980s, utilizing new forms of expression such as combining installation and performance. He is a recipient of the Arts and Culture Prize of the 10th Fukuoka Prize (1999). The subject of this drawing is a rhinoceros, in danger of extinction due to overhunting by poachers for its horns, which are a prized ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine such as in antipyretics.
