| Explanation | Thawan Duchanee is an artist from Chiang Rai, Thailand. He studied abroad in the Netherlands after completing his studies at Silpakorn University. With his overwhelming power of depiction, he created fantasy worlds that are unbound by frameworks of tradition or Buddhism, having a great influence on numerous young Thai contemporary artists. From his early days of painting various hill tribes, followed by a period influenced by Surrealism, his painting style gradually changed to one that depicted the madness, death, violence, and eroticism that lurk deep within the modern human beings, based on his own religious views. |
