| Explanation | Bhairav is another name for Shiva, one of the three principle deities of Hinduism, and means “the fearsome one.” Here, Shiva appears inside a linga (a representation of a phallus), which is derived from a particular aspect of Shiva as being one that governs the reproductive organs (as the male principle). |
