ExplanationAgus Kamal was born in Java, Indonesia. This painting depicts a baby trying to suck the breast of mother who died in a nuclear war. By creating this series during the Cold War, he was raising warnings about a possible extinction of human in the future. As stated by the artist, "almost all of the objects of my paintings are petrified, cracked, broken to symbolize the transiency of life," the human bodies in this work appear as fossilized corpses.
