| Explanation | The image of a crowd looking into something is juxtaposed with a large side-view shadow of a person. Despite their realistic depiction, the mysterious contrast of the crowd and the shadow, or the misty air in the painting, creates a dream-like world that goes beyond reality. Hyper-realism by which details of subject matters are precisely reproduced emerged in Korea in the 1980s, replacing the place of abstract paintings. Lee Sukju is one of the representative painters of this style. |
