ExplanationDuring the 1980s, a new trend in art, the so-called "Minjung Misul (People's Art)" emerged in Korea against the backdrop of the democratic movement. This new style of art conveying energy of the people was shared by a number of new-generation artists at that time. Kim Hongju is one of the artists who were highly influenced by this movement. Behind a broken wooden fence in this painting,he painted one Korean person who has a strong will keeping his deep anger and sorrow inside.
