| 作品解説(日本語) | １４歳で画家を志して上京し、ポール・セザンヌ、フィンセント・ファン・ゴッホ、そしてエドヴァルド・ムンクらの影響を色濃く受ける中で描かれました。この絵が制作された年には、画家の登竜門と言える大きな公募展（第２回再興院展）で初入選を果たします。正面の木に向かって道がのびる簡潔な構図ですが、画面全体、ほぼ同じ幅の短い筆致で色を垂直に積み重ね、白い色を大胆に配することでその風景に満ちる光が印象的な作品となっています。 |
| Writing text | After moving to Tokyo at the age of 14 to become a painter, Yanase Masamu drew this work while being deeply influenced by Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, and other prominent artists. In the year he created this painting, it was selected for the second Saiko Inten (Reorganized Japan Art Institute Exhibition), a major juried exhibition known to have launched the careers of promising artists. It was the first such opportunity for Yanase. While it is a simple composition, with a road that stretches toward the tree facing us, the short brush strokes all of roughly the same width vertically layering the color across the entire canvas, along with the bold distribution of white that fills the landscape with light, make this a striking piece. |
