| 作品解説(日本語) | 平面でありながら、額の効果もあり、右下奥へと空間が続くような錯覚にとらわれます。また中央には「身体全体が知覚であった」と英文で記され、無数の矢印が様々な方向を示すことで、それを視覚的に表現しています。荒川は記号や言葉を用い、作品を鑑賞することの意味や知覚と身体の関係性等について、鑑賞者に直接問いかけ続けました。その探究は建築にまで及び、湾曲した床や壁等で構成された、感覚を刺激する空間を創りました。 |
| Writing text | Although this is a two-dimensional work, the frame helps to create the illusion that the space continues back into three dimensions at the bottom righthand corner. The central text, “The entire body was perception,” is visually portrayed with infinite arrows in different directions. Throughout his works, Arakawa Shusaku used symbols and words to directly appeal to the viewer to consider themes such as the meaning of viewing art and the relationship between perception and the body. He even explored these themes in architecture, creating spaces that incorporated features such as curved floors and walls to stimulate the senses. |
